PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY OF BIOINTERFACES
Prof. Satriano’s multidisciplinary research activity deals with hybrid soft-wet (nano)biointerfaces for biosensing, tissue engineering and nanomedicine. She has an established network of national (Universities of Pisa, Bologna, Bari, CNR, EBRI) and international (Belgium, Sweden, US, Turkey, Spain, India, UK, Austria) collaborations, both academic and industrial (FIDIA Pharma group, EUROFARM, IONICS) partners.
In the last ten years, she supervised >35 (undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D.) students. Currently, she leads the Hybrid NanoBioInterfaces Lab (NHBIL) and supervises 7 students (2 B.Sc., 5 masters), 1 graduate and 1 post-doc researcher.
Her current funded projects include national (PRIN, Unit Responsible) and international (SmartHyCAR M-era.Net, Coordinator) actions. Project leader for UNICT of projects EUNICE (‘European UNIversity for Customized Education’; call Erasmus European Universities Initiative 2020; 2020-2023), PEER-IR-VIEW (call Erasmus KA203 - Strategic Partnerships for higher education; 2020-2023), REUNICE (‘Research with and for society in EUNICE’; call: H2020-IBA-SwafS-Support-2-2020; 2021-2024).Local coordinator for Future-ORiented chEmiSTry / (FOREST) (2021-2023), supported by the European Union (2020 Erasmus+ program call Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education).
She is the Scientific Responsible for UNICT of bilateral Erasmus agreements with Université de Mons-Hainaut (Belgium), Göteborgs Universitet (Sweden), University of Ulster (UK), Aix Marseille University (France), Technische Universität Dresden (Germany), Universite Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), Universität für Bodenkultur Wien (Austria).
Chair of ‘Smart multifunctional materials for nanomedicine’ focus topic at AVS67 (2021) and AVS68 (2022).
Associate Editor for Frontiers in Chemistry – Nanoscience, Editorial Board member for Applied Science, co-guest editor for several research topics, including the Frontiers RT: ‘Hybrid Nano-Bio Interfaces’, ‘Engineering-and-modifying-nanoassemblies-for-biosensing-bioimaging-and-phototheranostic-applications’, ‘Microbial-fabrication-of-nanomaterials-and-their-applications’; MDPI Special Issues: ‘Nano-Biointerface for Biosensing’,‘Nanomaterials for Pro-/Anti-Angiogenic Therapies’; ‘Multifunctional Materials Sensors for Theranostic Nanomedicine".
Prof. Satriano’s is actively involved in the university public engagement activities (Open Days, SHARPER European Researchers’ Nights, etc.).
